In the shadow of empire, love and loyalty collide.
When Oxford geology graduate Harry Brigandshaw arrives at Purbeck Manor in 1907, he brings with him the sun-scorched memories of Africa and dreams of mineral exploration.
The ancient estate of the St Clair family—once lords of all they surveyed, now reduced to "genteel poverty"—becomes the backdrop for Harry’s journey into the heart of a fading aristocracy.
The striking beauty of fifteen-year-old Lucinda St Clair captivates Harry, while the tragic figure of Richard, the damaged heir, serves as a reminder of the cost of preserving bloodlines. As Harry becomes immersed in the eccentric household—complete with a pig-obsessed baron, a tipsy grandmother, and the mysterious Great Aunt Nut—he finds himself questioning where he truly belongs.
As the British Empire declines and Africa calls him back, Harry must reconcile his colonial roots with his growing attachment to this peculiar family. Amid moonlit walks and eerie sounds in the night, Harry discovers that the wilderness of the human heart may be the most challenging terrain he will ever explore.
Amidst England’s fading aristocracy, Harry must navigate love, duty, and a world far from home. Elephant Walk is the second book in the Brigandshaw Chronicles, where family, adventure, and destiny intertwine.

Review
Brigandshaw Brilliance - I want a mini series!
Peter Rimmer has captured the link between the old colonialism of the African continent and the wild, new and vibrant emerging continent, linking the history back to European stories that I know. He has shown up the craziness of the world we came from, the forced moral fibre and the flawed value system that existed for hundreds of years and is still manifesting itself today. Elephant Walk is a great read and kept me away from my sleep for three days. I wish you could write faster.
Africa's Storyteller
WOW, I've read everything released by Peter Rimmer and hope he moves on with releasing the next in the series...
His scope of the political machinations in Africa are awesome and insightful. He has shown himself to be my "next" Wilbur Smith, so write on.... Sir! Enjoy Africa for all of us.
Love it
Historical fictional novel which encapsulates the First World War, England, Africa the English upper and lower classes. Loved it. If you enjoy Wilbur Smith you will enjoy this but without the real gore. Definitely recommend.
