Print on Demand. This book presents stereochemistry as a branch of science that explores the three-dimensional aspects of molecules. By doing so, it aims to improve our understanding of the real world and the composition of molecules. The author begins by outlining the concept of molecular asymmetry, and the connection between rotatory power and asymmetry in molecules. This idea is then expanded upon to provide the basis for stereochemistry of active compounds. In addition, the book goes into greater detail about the concept of optical isomers and includes an analysis of the characteristics that make them unique. It also discusses some of the reasons why optical isomers are important and explores their role in the development of stereochemistry. The author presents a range of examples to support the theoretical perspectives and weaves a comprehensive narrative around the subject. Overall, this book provides a concise yet detailed overview of stereochemistry. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Grundriss der Stereochemie, from the enlarged French translation of Guye and Gautier, was undertaken in the hope that a small handbook dealing more particularly with the important stereochemistry of the compounds of nitrogen, would be acceptable to English readers. This translation has been made, not only from the French edition, but the original German work has also been freely used, and the translator has had the advantage of the personal advice of Prof. Hantzsch, to whom he wishes to express his sincere thanks.
