Print on Demand. This book is an in-depth guide to the fundamental principles and applications of optics for secondary school-level students. The author adopts a straightforward approach to introduce the ideas of light, images, and lenses through the science of optics. Starting with the foundational concepts of rectilinear propagation, reflection, and refraction, the book progresses into a discussion of image formation in plane and spherical mirrors as well as lenses. Using accessible language and clear diagrams, the author explains concepts like conjugate foci, the construction of images using ray diagrams, and the laws of reflection and refraction. The book also provides a solid foundation in the principles and applications of various optical instruments, including the simple microscope and astronomical telescopes, to stimulate a practical understanding of optics. Overall, this book aims to make the study of optics not only accessible but also enjoyable for young learners. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
