(Architecture) David Baker. The Elements of Architecture in Relation to a Proposal for the Design of a New Temple of Judaism. Washington, D.C. 1947. 11"x 8.5", 24 leaves (printed on one side only). Mimeographed. Staple bound. Good condition. Rare. No copies located via WorldCat; I can find nothing at all on this work save for one mention in the Catalog of Copyright Entries (third series), 1947, that shows the work complete in 23 leaves. He had a verified association with Walter Gropius, and from what I can see worked on some innovative architecture (solar house 1949) and seems to have had a number of Navy Department contracts in the DC area. (The house he designed for himself in a very leafy part of NW DC was/is a striking mid-century modern creation.) [++] This is a theoretical approach to the design of a new sort of synagogue, and contains no plans or diagrams of any sort.…
