Print on Demand. This book utilizes electrical measurements within oil wells, a technique developed in the 1930s. This technique is primarily used to determine the properties and content of rock strata and fluids within a well. The author provides detailed descriptions of the methods, apparatus, and interpretations of the measurements, with illustrations. They emphasize that the technique provides accurate and inexpensive means of obtaining data that is otherwise difficult to obtain through other methods, such as coring. However, the author emphasizes that the potential and resistance measurements obtained can be influenced by a variety of factors, including the drilling process and the condition of the well. This book will be invaluable for petroleum geologists, engineers, and others involved in oil and gas exploration and production. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. …

As more experience in electrical logging in the Pennsylvania fields is acquired, the applications and potentialities of the method will be better understood. It is hoped that the individual oil producers will make the results of logging on their properties available to the Pennsylvania Geo logical Survey so that that organization may study and correlate them, and from time to time make the collective experience of the operators generally available.
