Butler and Hugh E. Butler, with a foreword to the first volume by Sir Herbert Austin.In the publisher's original cloth. Each volume contains a frontispiece, and numerous in-text illustrations, as well as specified plates discussed below.A comprehensive and practical guide to the electrical equipment installed in cars, looking at their principles, how they work and operation in different models. One of the first works to focus on electrical features within early cars.- Volume I: Including on Elementary Principles, Accumulators, Switchboards and Starting Systems. Contains ninety-eight diagram plates, and all twenty-three folding plates. Collated complete.- Volume II: Including on different representative cars, such as Diamler, Ford and Roll-Royce Models, and their electrical equipment. Contains all wiring diagram plates from 95-295, including those that are folding. Collated complete.- Volume III: Including on Commercial Equipment, Petrol-Electric Chasis, as well as faults and remedies. Contains all wiring diagram plates from 296-392, including those that are folding, as well as folding plate XXIV. Collated complete. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally, smart, with minimal faint marks to boards, a little more frequent to III and rubbing to joints. Slight bumping to the heads and tails of the spines, and to the extremities. Black end papers are clean with slight cockling to the extremities, heavier to II front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with the odd smudge and spot to leaf extremities. Smudging a little heavier to pp.178, 243 and 436-441 of I, with crinkling to right edge of pp.435-437 leaves. Very Good.
