Paperback. From First Principles to Field DiagnosisMaster electrical engineering the way it is actually practiced - from the physics of charge and voltage to the diagnosis of live power systems on the bench and in the field. This comprehensive reference builds knowledge in a deliberate arc: every topic moves from governing principles to worked calculations to measurable, real-world behavior. Whether you are a student meeting circuit theory for the first time, an early-career engineer bridging classroom and jobsite, a technician troubleshooting equipment, or an instructor seeking a rigorous desk reference, you will find both the analytical foundations and the disciplined workflows that professional work demands.Inside, you will learn to: Analyze DC and AC circuits using fundamental laws, node and mesh methods, source transformations, and superpositionWork confidently in the phasor domain with impedance, resonance, and first- and second-order transient responseInterpret active, reactive, and apparent power - and correct power factor with properly sized capacitor banksApply operational amplifiers, filters, and signal conditioning built up from the ideal modelUnderstand three-phase systems, variable frequency drives, and motor control as parts of one integrated networkQuantify power quality and harmonic distortion, and apply mitigation aligned with recognized standardsDesign grounding and earthing systems and manage electromagnetic compatibilityCoordinate overcurrent protection, calculate fault current, and assess arc flash hazardsCommission systems and diagnose faults through measurement, verification, and safe work practices Every chapter pairs governing equations with diagnostic examples, professional figures - schematics, phasor diagrams, waveforms, and protection curves - and practice problems that reward method over memorization. Safety is treated as non-negotiable, with clear guidance on safe isolation and hazard awareness throughout.More than a formula list, this is a working framework that connects theory, measurement, and field judgment - a study companion on your desk and a diagnostic reference at the bench.Begin with the fundamentals. From First Principles to Field Diagnosis
Master electrical engineering the way it is actually practiced — from the physics of charge and voltage to the diagnosis of live power systems on the bench and in the field.
This comprehensive reference builds knowledge in a deliberate arc: every topic moves from governing principles to worked calculations to measurable, real-world behavior. Whether you are a student meeting circuit theory for the first time, an early-career engineer bridging classroom and jobsite, a technician troubleshooting equipment, or an instructor seeking a rigorous desk reference, you will find both the analytical foundations and the disciplined workflows that professional work demands.
Inside, you will learn to:
- Analyze DC and AC circuits using fundamental laws, node and mesh methods, source transformations, and superposition
- Work confidently in the phasor domain with impedance, resonance, and first- and second-order transient response
- Interpret active, reactive, and apparent power — and correct power factor with properly sized capacitor banks
- Apply operational amplifiers, filters, and signal conditioning built up from the ideal model
- Understand three-phase systems, variable frequency drives, and motor control as parts of one integrated network
- Quantify power quality and harmonic distortion, and apply mitigation aligned with recognized standards
- Design grounding and earthing systems and manage electromagnetic compatibility
- Coordinate overcurrent protection, calculate fault current, and assess arc flash hazards
- Commission systems and diagnose faults through measurement, verification, and safe work practices
Every chapter pairs governing equations with diagnostic examples, professional figures — schematics, phasor diagrams, waveforms, and protection curves — and practice problems that reward method over memorization. Safety is treated as non-negotiable, with clear guidance on safe isolation and hazard awareness throughout.
More than a formula list, this is a working framework that connects theory, measurement, and field judgment — a study companion on your desk and a diagnostic reference at the bench.
Begin with the fundamentals. Build toward mastery. Diagnose with confidence.
