Modern industrial motor systems are no longer simply about starting and stopping a motor. Today’s installations bring together motors, drives, power electronics, PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, process control, protection, and increasingly connected digital technologies.
Electric Motor Control and System Integration presents a practical, systems-oriented approach to understanding how these technologies work together in real industrial environments. Rather than treating motor control as an isolated electrical topic, this book connects the individual components into a complete control and automation system.
Inside, you will explore the principles and applications behind:
- Three-phase electrical power and motor fundamentals
- Induction, synchronous, DC, and permanent-magnet motors
- Motor starters, contactors, relays, overload protection, and MCCs
- Power semiconductor devices and electronic motor control
- DC drives and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- PLC architecture, ladder logic, and industrial control
- HMI and SCADA integration
- Industrial communication networks and connected motor systems
- Sensors, feedback, interlocks, and protective functions
- PID and process-control applications
- Commissioning, troubleshooting, and system documentation
- Industrial cybersecurity and IT/OT integration
- Predictive maintenance, remote diagnostics, and modern digital technologies
- Lifecycle considerations, management of change, and system reliability
The emphasis throughout is on system-level understanding—how electrical power, motors, control hardware, software, communications, instrumentation, and operator interfaces interact to form a functioning industrial system.
Whether you are learning motor control for the first time, strengthening your engineering knowledge, or working with industrial automation and maintenance systems, this book provides a structured foundation for understanding both the individual technologies and their role within a larger integrated environment.
Designed for engineering students, early-career engineers, controls professionals, technicians, maintenance electricians, and industrial automation practitioners, the book uses practical explanations, diagrams, examples, and engineering concepts to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application.
It also introduces relevant industry practices and standards, including references to organizations and frameworks such as NEMA, IEC, NEC, IEEE, UL, ISO, and ISA, while maintaining a vendor-neutral perspective.
Important DisclaimerThis book is provided for educational and general engineering reference purposes only. It is not a substitute for applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, industry standards, manufacturer documentation, site-specific engineering analysis, qualified training, or the judgment of appropriately licensed or qualified professionals. Electrical and industrial control equipment can present serious hazards if improperly designed, installed, operated, or maintained. Always verify applicable requirements for your jurisdiction, equipment, and installation before applying information from this book. The author and publisher assume no responsibility for loss, injury, damage, or other consequences resulting from the application or misuse of the information presented.
From basic motor-control components to PLCs, VFDs, industrial networks, process control, and integrated automation, Electric Motor Control and System Integration helps you see the complete picture.
If you want to develop a stronger systems-level understanding of industrial motor control and automation, add this book to your engineering and technical library today.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
