Item description from seller

Sixteen page staplebound pamphlet. Tanned edges and pages. Small tears at top of a couple of pages. Focusing on Communist candidates Earl Browder and James W. Ford, this pamphlet lays out the platform of the 1940 Communist Party, including keeping the US out of World War II, protecting and extending civil liberties, full rights for African-Americans, curbing monopolists, and supporting a farmer-labor party. Earl Browder (1891-1973) was a Communist from Kansas and General Secretary of the CPUSA during the 1930s into the 1940s. James W. Ford (1893-1957) was a political activist and ran for the vice-presidential position for the Communist Party USA in 1932, 1936, and 1940. Ford, an African-American, was born in Alabama and worked as a party organizer for the CPUSA in New York City.
