Ekklesia, the Greek word for Church, is the Body of Christ; His bride and His habitation. Although it has organization, it is not an organization. The Ekklesia is a living organism. She must be seen in the context of personhood with attributes reflecting her Head, Jesus Christ, yet, with human frailties. As a corporate person, the Church is subject to the same mood swings, maladies, goodness and potential as any one of us individually.
In fact, the Church is composed of a lot of people just like us. So, the Church has it all: the good, the bad, the lazy, the diligent, the goers, the stayers, the sensitive, the bossy… you get the picture. Because the Church is like a lot of us, she is in the process of transformation. Don’t get too judgmental of the Church, when seeing her humanity. The Lord is not finished with her yet.
You will see. We, the Church, will all come into the unity of the faith, into the image of the Lord and we will fulfill His purpose here on earth. The Church is “making herself ready” for the coming of her Bridegroom.
My purpose in writing this book is to bring clarity and balance to sensitive areas of Church life, to correct obvious abuses and errors and to give practical steps that can be applied to the individual and corporate life of the Church. With 50 years of experience as pastor and teacher, in many countries around the world, I share with you, my readers, the treasures of what I have learned along the way.
My desire is to help ensure spiritual health and growth in the Body of Christ and to point out the many “land mines” the enemy has placed along the road to successful church life. Church life is to be enjoyed to the fullest. Heaven and earth touch in Church.
