本書主要著重對歷史上人與事的評述。全書共六篇、四十二章,其中要點如下:首先討論中國古今的赤壁、淝水、古寧頭三大戰役,其次談到韓戰如何開始?及中共為何參戰?續之由小處觀察,瞭解到蔣介石、鄧小平二人的理念與治政;針對當今中國大力推行反貪而回顧上世紀五?年代「三反」、「五反」舊事;從筆者與一個飽經戰火的徐州老兵的對話中,領悟戰爭的殘酷與荒謬;對太平天國石達開生平的評述;敘述國軍名將張靈甫在孟良崮殉難,以及對毛岸英在韓戰中犧牲的追思等等。

《作者自序》

這本書是續愚作《古道拾遺》所編寫的一些文章,主要著重於對歷史上人與事的評述。

全書共六篇、四十二章。第一篇--〈度勢篇〉,首先討論中國古今的赤壁、淝水、古寧頭三大戰役,其相似的背景與對中國歷史產生的深遠影響;其次談到韓戰如何開始?及中共為何參戰?以及這場戰爭產生的遠東格局與中國、臺灣對峙;也對一九三七年中共西路軍在河西走廊的覆滅,從天時、地利與人和三方面做了論述。

第二篇--〈閱人篇〉,其中由小處觀察,瞭解到蔣介石、鄧小平二人的理念與治政;也由搭乘動車追憶我國偉大的工程師詹天佑。在第三篇--〈論理篇〉中針對當今中國大力推行反貪而回顧上世紀五○年代「三反」、「五反」中嚴懲劉青山、張子善的舊事;同時申述了古今黃河改道與國家治亂的關係。

第四篇--〈搜奇篇〉從筆者與一個飽經戰火的徐州老兵的對話中,領悟戰爭的殘酷與荒謬;另外由探訪漢光武原陵與曹操高陵,體會到我國古代卓越的科技與智慧。第五篇--〈探古篇〉中作了對太平天國石達開生平的評述,並討論了其孤軍流竄中進行的寶慶戰役。由此增加對中國近代的社會動亂與革命運動的認識;還討論了鳩摩羅什對中國佛教的貢獻與影響。在第六篇--〈懷思篇〉中敘述了國軍名將張靈甫在孟良崮殉難,以及毛岸英在韓戰中犧牲的追思。

卜一

卜一,原籍江蘇徐州,1944年生於廣西桂林,1949年赴台,曾就讀於師大附中、台大機械工程系。1968年赴美,後取得普渡大學(Purdue)機械工程博士。從事石油開發及管理工作三十餘年,先於埃克森公司(EXXON)進行研究工作,後任安然中國石油天然氣(Enron Oil & Gas China)副總裁(Vice President)、柏靈頓中國資源公司(Burlington Resources China)總經理(General Manager),從事中美石油合作及中國石油開發工作,著重緻密油、氣層的開發生產。作者曾參與20世紀七?年代保衛釣魚台運動,並於1979年鄧小平訪美期間晉見會談,建議加速海內外科技交流與合作;後於1983年參與籌建北美華人石油協會,任首任會長,促進中國大陸台港及美國的石油石化科技交流合作。筆者喜好史地,曾暢遊大陸、臺灣、美國及世界七大洲,觀山川海宇、體民俗風情、覓古今軼事。曾發表專文:《憑弔大渡河古戰場-紅軍長征成功與太平天國石達開覆敗之比較》、《田中奏摺-舊事新探》、《我的1948淮海回憶》、《復活節島探訪記》、《輝煌與黯淡同在的印度》、《憶師大附中的崢嶸歲月》等約兩百篇;及出版《走不遍的天下》、《行遠無涯》、《古道拾遺》、《胖子正傳》、《笑談江月》五本書。

Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.

Statutory right to withdraw

You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.

The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.

To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Effects of withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).

We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.

We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.

We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.

We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.

You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Rarewaves.com UK, Unit 144 The Lightbox, 111 Power Road, W4 5PY, London, London, United Kingdom, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.

Exceptions to the right of withdrawal

The right of withdrawal does not apply to:

The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
