Cover rubbed & nicked. All pages clean. Effects of Protectionism on a Small Country: The Case of Uruguay is a detailed economic analysis examining how trade barriers, tariffs, and protectionist policies shape the development trajectory of a small, open economy. Using Uruguay as a focused case study, the authors evaluate the impacts of import substitution, industrial protection, agricultural policy, and external trade shocks on growth, competitiveness, and structural change. The work blends empirical data with theoretical frameworks, offering a clear, evidence‑based assessment of how protectionism influences production patterns, resource allocation, and long‑term economic performance in a country highly sensitive to global markets. 🎯 Ideal For Researchers in international economics, development policy, trade theory, and Latin American studies Economists studying small‑country vulnerability, tariff impacts, or import‑substitution strategies Policy analysts and institutions focused on trade reform, economic diversification, or regional development Libraries building collections in global trade, economic history, or comparative development Collectors of specialized economic monographs, especially those with strong regional case studies ⭐ Why It Matters Provides a rare, country‑specific analysis of protectionism’s real‑world effects — something often missing from broad theoretical texts Offers empirical data and policy evaluation relevant to ongoing debates about trade liberalization and economic resilience Studies of Uruguay’s economic structure are less common, increasing the value of well‑preserved copies Highlights how small economies navigate global pressures, making it useful for comparative research Strengthens any curated archive focused on trade policy, Latin American development, or economic reform history.…
