Print on Demand. This book offers a detailed historical and cultural account of education in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. The author extensively cites primary and secondary sources to outline how education in these regions was designed to maintain Spanish colonial control, and how it failed to live up to those intentions. By examining educational policy, as well as first-hand accounts of students and teachers, the book chronicles the fight for independence and self-determination in these countries. This book is essential reading for anyone interested in the history of education, colonialism, and Latin America. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
