The author Li Liang, former Chinese Vice Premier from 1993 to 2003, desribes ten years of education reform and development in the country. He describes how major policy decisions were taken, how he personally grappled with the challenges, and how his views on many important issues in Chinese Education put his personal stamp on a decade of reform. The last part of the book features the editors' observations, which allows the reader to have more of an insight into the man; his views as Vice Premier, his personal opinions and experiences, and his personality as a civil servant.
About the Author: Li Lanqing is a former member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and former Vice President of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
