Roger Miller believes that students learn best when they are motivated, and that motivation comes when they connect an idea to their day-to-day lives. That is why every chapter of Economics Today: The Macro View is packed with thought-provoking applications that give immediate, common-sense reinforcement to economic concepts. From international to local, corporate to consumer, policy to personal, these examples spark lively discussion both in and out of the classroom. The result is that students gain a natural understanding of economic theory and analysis, and they learn to use economic reasoning in their everyday decisions.
Roger LeRoy Miller is affiliated with the Institute for University Studies in Arlington, Texas. Prior to this, he held faculty appointments at the University of Washington, Seattle, the University of Hawaii, Clemson University, and the University of Miami, where he co-founded the Law and Economics Center.
Miller has authored and co-authored myriad articles and textbooks, including some best sellers in the field such as the Economics of Public Issues, and Economics Today 2001¿2002.
In addition to academia, Miller has given talks and lectures across America, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and France. He has also served as a consultant to several law firms and numerous state and federal agencies.
