Introduce your child to the great Russian classics – War and Peace, Anna Karenina and more, retold for ages 9–12 with free audiobooks.
From the dazzling ballrooms of St Petersburg to the war-torn streets of Moscow, this ten-book collection opens the world's most celebrated literature to young readers. Children will march with Tolstoy's soldiers, unravel mysteries of conscience with Dostoevsky, and meet unforgettable characters from Anna Karenina to Eugene Onegin – each novel retold as a complete story in clear, engaging language. Every book includes a QR code linking to a free audiobook, so children can listen along as they read.
The adaptations are by Gemma Barder, a Leicestershire-based children's author who began her career in children's magazines before becoming a full-time writer of novels, treasuries and storybooks. The collection is illustrated throughout by children's illustrator Helen Panayi, whose characterful artwork helps developing readers navigate these epic stories with confidence.
For schools, the set builds cultural literacy and reading stamina in upper Key Stage 2 – a bridge between children's series fiction and secondary-school literature. For parents and gift buyers, it is the present that starts conversations: a complete Russian literature library in one slipcase.
Ideal for:
- Ages 9–12 · Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5–6)
- Stretching confident readers beyond familiar series
- Birthday and Christmas gifts that impress
- School and classroom library collections
- Homeschool and classical education curricula
- The bridge into secondary-school literature
