Fun, Effective, and Easy-to-Use Resource for Kids Ages 8 to 12
Help kids learn about events that took place before and during Christ's death and resurrection by utilizing this engaging activity book and study guide. It’s a great tool to use at home, in a small group, or at church.
How does it work?
This 8.5-by-11-inch paperback book is divided into 11 sections, and each section consists of six pages each. In each section, kids will complete the following activities:
- Start each section by reading the Bible (using the provided reading plan).
- After reading, answer 3-4 multiple choice questions about what you read.
- Then read and answer a question about applying the scripture to your own life.
- Draw a picture (according to the directions).
- Complete two activities (such as a maze, anagram, word search, code, finish the picture, find the differences, coloring, and more).
- Read a short wrap-up (or final thoughts) for the section.
Depending on your group size and timeframe, each section can be completed in one sitting or class, if desired.
What events are included?
- Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey
- Judas agrees to betray Jesus and Jesus celebrates Passover
- Jesus predicts that Peter will deny Him
- Jesus says He is leaving but is sending a Helper
- Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemane
- Jesus is arrested and faces the Sanhedrin
- Peter denies Jesus
- Judas dies and Jesus faces Pontius Pilate
- Jesus dies on a cross
- A soldier pierces Jesus' side and Jesus is buried in Joseph's tomb
- Jesus rises from the dead
What materials are required?
To complete the activities and bible study, you will need a Bible, a pencil, and crayons or colored pencils. (Markers are not recommended since they can bleed through the page.) Answers to the activities are provided in the back of the book.
Can this book be used with varying age ranges?
Absolutely! The reading level and activities were created for kids ages 8 to 12. Readers younger than this age range may need a little extra help from an adult. Readers older than this age range may find some (but not all) of the activities a little easy, but the message and the bible study portion will still be appropriate.
This book is a great resource to use at home as a family, in a small group (even with varying ages), or at church (as Sunday School lessons, for example). It would also make a great gift!
Can a child complete this book on their own?
This book is designed so that each section begins with reading specific verses in the Bible. If the child knows how to look up and read a scripture reference on their own (such as Matthew 26:31-35), then the answer is yes. However, we recommend that an adult go through the book with the child to provide guidance, answer any questions they may have, etc. It can be a great conversation starter! This book can be thought of as “the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.”
Who created this book?
Hide and Seek Ministries (HSM) developed this activity book as a teaching tool to assist parents, caregivers, teachers, and leaders in equipping young minds with biblical knowledge about the powerful and life-changing meaning of Christ’s resurrection. HSM hopes to provide resources that guide young readers in developing a personal relationship with the Lord and help them boldly follow Jesus in faith, hope, and love.
