Print on Demand. In this book, the author positions the time of transition from dependence on others' guidance to the responsibility of personal growth as the critical juncture for making plans to cultivate our physical, intellectual, and spiritual capacities. The author argues that those who decide to neglect their personal development will eventually lose the value of the knowledge already gained and the capacity to make use of it. This loss, the author says, leads to both inner misery and culpability for talents wasted. On the other hand, the diligent see their capacities increase, their sense of well-being grow, and their opportunities for success multiply. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

Mong the most pleasant recollections Of the author's labors as a pastor, through a long course of years, are those relative to his intercourse with the young people of his Charge. It was his Special joy to know these personally, and to gather them so closely around him that he might enter into their peculiar experiences and life. He found in them a ready response to his friendly feeling and an Openness of heart to his influence and counsels, which led him to believe that his endeavors to be useful to them were not Wholly in vain.
