Fine condition maroon linen boards with a two inch round front cover gold Rhode Island Historical Society Insignia, and a fine condition age toned spine label with black lettering. Includes Preface and Index to Names; Index to Indian Names; Index to Subjects; and Miscellaneous Index. The inner front board contains a vintage former owner bookplate neatly affixed to the upper right corner and a vintage former owner name and address neatly scripted with black ink at the lower left corner of the same inner front board. "When the City of Providence published its twenty-one volumes of The Early Records of the Town of Providence, only a few copies of Vol. XXI were printed. Consequently many sets of these important records lack this last volume, which is especially valuable since it is the "Second Part of the Second Book for the Recording of Deeds and called Deed Book No. 2". The earliest date is 3 Feb 1661 and the latest date is 12 Mar. 1712/13. The transcript of the first part of this deed book is found in The Early Rercords of the Town of Providence, Vol. XX, the earliest date of wich is 7 Feb. 1653 and the latest date 7 Dec. 1715. The Rhode Island Historical Society has published a consolidated Index to the Early Records of the Town of Providence, Vols. I - XXI.
