Bingham in 1888. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the early history of the state of Michigan, including its settlement, development, and growth. It also includes biographies of prominent state officials, members of Congress, judges, and legislators who played important roles in shaping the state's history. The book is divided into several chapters, each of which covers a different period in Michigan's history. The first chapter discusses the Native American tribes that inhabited the region prior to European settlement, and the subsequent arrival of French explorers and traders. The following chapters cover the establishment of Michigan as a territory, its admission to the Union as a state, and its role in the Civil War. Throughout the book, Bingham provides detailed descriptions of key events and individuals who played important roles in Michigan's history. He also includes numerous illustrations and maps to help readers better understand the state's geography and development. Overall, ''Early History of Michigan: With Biographies of State Officers, Members of Congress, Judges and Legislators'' is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of Michigan or the Midwest region of the United States. It provides a detailed and engaging account of the state's early years, and sheds light on the people and events that helped shape its identity. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
