Internally sound. Clean text. Andre Grabar's seminal work, Early Christian Art: Ad 200-395, chronicles the formative period of Christian artistic expression. This scholarly volume presents a comprehensive examination of the visual culture that emerged during the crucial centuries following Christianity's inception. It details the stylistic innovations and iconographic developments that defined early Christian imagery, from catacomb paintings to sarcophagus reliefs. Grabar illustrates how these artistic forms reflected the evolving theological doctrines and social structures of the nascent Christian community.
