About the Author
Paul Howard Lang has worked for Ealing Library Service since 1966 and has been hospital librarian at St Bernard’s Hospital since 1982. After carrying out research into the history of the hospital, he developed a great interest for local history and has subsequently given many talks on a variety of topics to a large number of societies. He is Chairman of the Surbiton Historical Society, and has been for the last seven years, and also Programme Secretary of the Epsom and Ewell History and Archaeology Society as well as on the committee of the Kingston upon Thames Archaeological Society and Acton History Group. He also featured in an episode of Michael Portillo's Great British Railway Journeys, talking about the advanced-thinking Victorian Hanwell Asylum Superintendent John Conolly. An avid postcard collector, Paul has three published books to his credit.
