Oblong 4to. 8.25 x 11.75 inches. 60 pp. In pictorial card wrapper. Minor wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by black and white and colour photographs, drawings and plan. Plan inside front wrapper. An account of Peterlee New Town in Co. Durham. The abstract artist, Victor Pasmore (1908-98) worked as Consulting Director of Urban Design in Peterlee, 1955-77 and was responsible for the town's reinforced concrete centrepiece, the Apollo Pavilion, now Grade-II* listed by English Heritage. The book contains a previously unpublished essay on Urban Design by Pasmore, 1970 and a chapter by Toby Paterson (b.1974) depicting the influence of Peterlee on his art. Founded by Patrick Marrin's father George in 1946, Marrin's Bookshop has been based in its current Folkestone location since 1963. Patrick has worked in bookselling since 1970. As well as rare antiquarian books, maps and prints, the stock includes a wide range of literature, library sets, travel, history and illustrated books in all fields. We also offer a bookbinding and restoration service. Visitors to the shop are welcome and we exhibit at UK book fairs.
