Item description from seller

This article was written to give some sort of answer to the questions: 1) How much might the best obtainable spheroid for the earth as a whole differ from the Clarke Spheroid of 1866, now officially adopted for the whole of North America? 2) How much difference would the adoption of such a spheroid make in the geographic coordinates of points now referred to the Clarke Spheroid? 3) Is it probable that in the foreseeable future, it will be necessary or desirable to give up the Clarke Spheroid for the geographic purposes and to adopt some other? 4) Are present methods of adjusting triangulation for obtaining the figure of the earth and the deflections of the vertical adequate when extended to a territory so large as the whole of North America? DB3. stapled binding, softcover, name written on cover, 35 pages.

Store description

As with many booksellers, I buy entire collections rather as well as individual titles, which has led to an ever-growing and wonderfully diverse inventory. While metaphysical and occult works remain a favorite, the collection now includes a remarkable selection of geology books, which has become the largest category in the store. You'll also find beautifully illustrated juvenile fiction with memorable dust jacket art, classic murder mysteries, science fiction, history, and a wide variety of nonfiction subjects. One of the joys of Crossroads Books is never knowing what treasure will appear next. Exploring new genres, discovering unusual publishers, and continually expanding the inventory are at the heart of what I do. Whether you're searching for a specific title or simply enjoy browsing for unexpected finds, I hope you'll discover books that inform, inspire, and delight.…
