Dear Readers,
It is with great joy and deep emotions that I present to you my novel, DULAAR: A MOTHER'S ETERNAL LOVE. This is not just a story but a heartfelt expression of my emotions, life experiences, and an earnest tribute to the greatness of motherhood.
I originally wrote this novel in Hindi as Dulaar in the year 1978. However, due to life's responsibilities and circumstances, it remained unpublished for decades. Now, with the blessings of my late parents, I have finally been able to bring it to light. This novel is dedicated to my beloved late mother, who passed away on December 4, 2020. Her unconditional love, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion were the true inspirations behind this story.
The central character, Savitri, is a living embodiment of a mother’s undying love and supreme sacrifice. She endures countless hardships, struggles against societal constraints, and renounces her own happiness—all for the bright future of her son, Ram. Her journey is not only deeply touching but also compels readers to reflect on the boundless depths of motherhood.
DULAAR: A MOTHER'S ETERNAL LOVE is not just the story of one mother but a timeless saga of selfless love that remains immortal across generations. It echoes the values and virtues that a mother instills in her child, guiding them with unwavering faith and wisdom to become a true human being.
As this novel unfolds against the backdrop of both pre-independence and post-independence India, there may be some inconsistencies in time references. The story begins around 1939, an era vastly different from the modern world we live in today. Society, traditions, and the way of life during that period were shaped by a different set of values, struggles, and emotions compared to the present era. However, this novel offers a vivid glimpse into that time, allowing modern readers to connect with the essence of an era long past. Through its characters and their journeys, it brings to life the emotional depth, cultural fabric, and moral values of those times—values that, though old, still hold profound relevance today.
Although this novel was written during my teenage years, and there may be certain inconsistencies in historical references or minor imperfections, I humbly request readers to see it as an eternal tale of a mother’s love and sacrifice. I truly believe that after reading this novel, you will come to appreciate your own mother’s devotion even more and feel the depth of this extraordinary bond.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Vineet Kumar Bhatia
