Every corporation has a database of some kind. A company’s information is its lifeblood. When new software is installed, or old systems must be upgraded, the data must be safely moved from the old system to the new one. Loss or corruption of the data in this process could destroy a company. This book is essential for any corporation facing a data conversion, migration, or integration.

About the Author
Jerry Hayward knew he wanted to be a programmer when he was five years old. He’s been performing data conversions since 1995. Some of the companies he’s done data work for include ACS, KLA Tencor, NASA, and BlueCross BlueShield just to name a few. He’s organized data for ACS in a General Business Workflow Processes, integrated data for several BlueCross BlueShield organizations in the healthcare industry, helped telecom expense management companies and every kind of business in between. Jerry has worked with Systems that spanned the globe, data warehouses measured in Petabytes, and systems so small the imports and exports were in MS Excel™ spreadsheets. He’s been on teams, been self-employed, coded tools, written one-off code, used tools supplied by third parties, and taken over conversions started by others. He is also a data security expert and has written tools to preventing spoofing, phishing, code insertion, and detecting man-in-the-middle attacks when data is sent over the internet. (Man-in-the-middle attacks are said to be impossible to detect) Jerry founded the company Convertabase Inc. (http://www.convertabase.com) which has an educational section to teach data conversion, as well as offers some free and some fee tools on it. He also founded Ciphertooth, Inc. (http://www.ciphertooth.com) which offers better protection and security than https.
