328pp. By William Beckford of Fonthill. Edited with an Introduction and notes by Robert J. Gemmett. A 1783 series of travel sketches by the young Beckford, who was scathingly critical of much he saw on the Continent. Suppressed by Beckford, who burned nearly 500 copies. Black cloth, silver lettering on spine. Red circular stamp, upper right corner of ffep reads "Review Copy, Reprint Bulletin." Dust wrapper has light toning, and small chips and tears to edge. Crack just to paper covering of inner hinge. Near fine / very good. Seller Inventory # 000170
