A classic collection of Goethe’s drama, brought to life through thoughtful translation and notes.
This edition gathers Goethe’s major stage works—Faust, Iphigenia in Tauris, Torquato Tasso, and Egmont—along with translator’s notes and introductions that illuminate their creation and meaning. Readers gain access to the dramatic world Goethe shaped, now made accessible through careful English rendering and scholarly context.
- Read the dramas with newly prepared translations and longstanding notes that help explain key references and dramatic structure.
- Explore the translator’s preface and introductory material that frame Goethe’s method and the work’s place in literary history.
- Discover how these plays interweave myth, history, and moral reflection, from Faust’s quest for meaning to Iphigenia’s moral dilemma.
- Benefit from contextual notes that clarify cultural, historical, and literary allusions for contemporary readers.

Store description
Books that Benefit is part of a fund raising programme I set up to raise money for charity. I do this by collecting donated books from around the UK and then selling the books online through AbeBooks. Apart from the AbeBook fees and postage all the money raised from selling these books goes to various charities, national and local. I personally do not take any money from selling the books.
