From insidious plagues to apocalyptic environmental events, each tale explores the fragility of civilization in the face of overwhelming odds.
Included are the stories "The Four Days' Night," "The Dust of Death," "The Four White Days," "The Invisible Force," "The River of Death," and "A Bubble Burst," each a stark exploration of potential urban disasters. White masterfully weaves suspense and dread, creating scenarios that resonate even today.
