Item description from seller

Broadside (imprint area: 36,5 x 26cm). Royal proclamation of 26 October 1808 condemning the scandalous proliferation of offices and appointments without taking proper advice, whereby unworthy subjects were unjustly showered with honours and pensions, whereas persons of merit were overlooked and forgotten. The order is here re-issued by Don José Fernando de Abascal y Sousa, Viceroy of Spain, to the Governor of the Council of the Indies for general circulation in the colonial government. A rare Lima imprint unknown to Medina. Centre folding marks, otherwise in good condition.
