Paperback. Meet Sven and Einer-two clever, mischievous dogs whose everyday life with their beloved Master is anything but ordinary. At River's Edge, life begins with dog kisses, wrestling matches, river adventures, shared meals, movie nights, and plenty of rawhide bones. But when animals around the neighborhood begin turning up drained of blood, Sven and Einer take matters into their own paws. Their investigation leads them to an unexpected discovery: the neighborhood's dangerous new dog, Reba, is a vampire dog. Using their instincts, teamwork, a computer, and a little help from their friends, the two detectives must find a way to protect their world without becoming killers themselves. Their adventures only grow from there. In Midas Mutts, the boys join Master on a motorcycle journey through South Dakota, traveling in a specially designed sidecar while exploring the Black Hills, Deadwood, Sturgis, and the countryside. Along the way, an unexpected encounter with a lonely old prospector leads to a secret that the dogs promise to keep. Then the adventure reaches the moon in Mutts on the Moon, where Sven and Einer find themselves caught up in a space mission and discover a world beyond anything they could have imagined. Finally, War Mongrels takes the boys into World War Two, where they and their Master become part of the United States Navy Medical Corps. Their courage, loyalty, teamwork, and devotion are tested in ways they never imagined. Funny, imaginative, sometimes suspenseful, and ultimately heartfelt, Dogpire: Adventures of Sven and Einer celebrates the extraordinary bond between two dogs and the human they love. The description deliberately avoids revealing the complete resolution of War Mongrels, while still accurately representing the manuscript's four-story structure and major premises.
