Print on Demand. This book provides the original manuscripts of the three constitutions that have governed the state of Iowa since it became a US territory in 1838. The first constitution, which failed to gain the support of the voters of the proposed state, was replaced in 1846 with a constitution that remained in effect until 1857, when the current constitution of Iowa was ratified. The author provides an introduction to each constitution, placing it in its historical context and discussing its main provisions, including such topics as voting rights, the structure of government, and the rights of individuals. This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of Iowa, the development of constitutional law in the United States, or the study of constitutions. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
