The Doctrine and Covenants contains some of the most powerful revelations of the Restoration, but its historical setting, nineteenth-century language, symbolic passages, and complex doctrines can sometimes make it difficult to fully understand. Doctrine and Covenants Explained: A Section-by-Section Commentary was created to make these revelations clearer, more meaningful, and easier to apply. This comprehensive commentary walks through every section of the Doctrine and Covenants, along with Official Declarations 1 and 2, explaining the central message, important doctrines, historical setting, promises, warnings, and spiritual principles in clear, accessible language.Rather than simply summarizing each section, this book explains how the teachings fit together and why they matter. Each commentary is written in smooth paragraph form and focuses on the revelation as a whole, helping readers recognize important connections that can easily be missed when studying only individual verses. Discover deeper insight into topics such as: Jesus Christ and his AtonementPersonal revelation and the Holy GhostPriesthood authority and Church organizationFaith, repentance, baptism, and covenant discipleshipTemples, sealing, and eternal familiesThe gathering of Israel and the building of ZionMissionary work and the Restoration of the gospelConsecration, stewardship, and caring for the poorSalvation for the dead and the spirit worldThe Second Coming, resurrection, and final judgmentPlural marriage and Official Declaration 1Priesthood blessings for all worthy members regardless of raceAnd many other important teachings found throughout the Doctrine and CovenantsWhether you are reading the Doctrine and Covenants for the first time or have studied it for years, this book offers a clear and organized way to better understand the revelations and their place within the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It is especially useful for personal scripture study, family study, Sunday School preparation, Come, Follow Me study, teachers, new converts, youth, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Restoration scripture. The Doctrine and Covenants is more than a collection of historical revelations. It bears witness that God still speaks, Jesus Christ lives, revelation continues, priesthood authority has been restored, and the Lord is preparing a covenant people for his return. Go beyond simply reading the sections. Understand their message, discover how the revelations connect, and see more clearly how they testify of Jesus Christ and his restored gospel.
