Description: ''Emma Hamilton travelled a long road and many men had some part in her career. But she succeeded even beyond her own dreams. Her lover and protector, Lord Hamilton, Ambassador to the Court of Naples, made her his wife. Her skill in political intrigue played an important part in helping England beat Napoleon. And though her love affair with Admiral Nelson shocked the conventions and stirred the destiny of the British Empire, it was an important factor in the dashing career of that great naval hero.'' This edition features jacket art based on a 1941 movie poster from ''That Hamilton Woman'' starring Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier. The cover blurb also mentions the film. BINDNG/CONDITION: brown cloth with rust text; all edges tinted red; as is common with this publisher, the paper is browning -- badly -- otherwise a Very Good book, with a Good dust jacket. small 8vo (about 7.5 inches tall). 417 pages.
