Review
Praise for Divided Only by Distance & Allegiance (Volume 3 of the Bulloch/Roosevelt Letters): “The Bulloch-Roosevelt letters of 1861-1865 are captivating. The authors add meaningful commentary to create a compelling story of loss, worry, and deprivation in the midst of luxury. Particularly revealing are the unexpected insights into the character and motivations of important, military and political figures on both sides of the conflict. Although this is the third volume in the series, the skillfully crafted narrative stands alone. A valuable addition to the bookshelf of Civil War scholars and to the reading list of anyone who enjoys a good story about fascinatingly complex people.” Walter E. Wilson, Captain, USN (ret.), author of The Bulloch Belles; First Ladies, a Spy, Mother of a President and Other Remarkable Women of a 19th Century Georgia Family and co-author of James D. Bulloch; Secret Agent and Mastermind of the Confederate Navy.
