Etikettierung am Buchrücken, Stempel und Vermerke auf dem Titelblatt. Papier gewellt. Innen sauber und ohne Anstreichungen. Charles H. Nielsen war Chemieingenieur. Er koordinierte das Symposium im Mai 1954. Die Autoren: die einzelnen Kapitel stammen von führenden US-Praktikern und Forschern namhafter Konzerne und Universitäten (darunter Ingenieure von DuPont, Foster Wheeler und der University of Pennsylvania). Bei den Beiträgen handelte es sich um Berichte von Ergebnissen und Anwendungen aus der industriellen Praxis. Als Träger der Veranstaltung fungierten zwei renommierte US-ameikanische Verbände: die Regionalsektion Philadelphia-Wilmington des American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) eine Vereinigung amerikanischer Verfahrenstechniker. - und das Department of Chemical Engineering der University of Pennsylvania, eine der Zentren des modernen US-Chemieingenieurwesens. Das Buch lieferte praxisnahes Wissen zur Rektifikation und Destillation (thermische Trennverfahren). Es behandelte das Design von Destillationskolonnen, die physikalischen Grundlagen von Flüssigkeits-Dampf-Gleichgewichten, die Auslegung von Glockenböden (bubble cap trays), die Automatisierung und Instrumentierung von Kolonnen sowie die wirtschaftliche Optimierung des Betriebs. Das erklärte Ziel von Veranstaltung und Veröffentlichung: die Übertragung von thermodynamischem Wissen in den großindustriellen Raffinerie- und Chemiealltag. Der Lurgi Gesellschaft für Mineralöltechnik gelang in den 1950er Jahren der Sprung auf den Weltmarkt. Sie plante und baute Erdölraffinerien, Kohleverflüssigungsanlagen (wie SASOL in Südafrika) und Großchemieanlagen. Destillationskolonnen waren das Rückgrat fast jeder dieser Anlagen. Amerikanische Standards beim Kolonnendesign waren damals das Maß der Dinge. Dabei war u. a. das Thema der Effizienz bei der technologischen Entscheidung zwischen Glockenböden und. Siebböden diskussionsbestimmend. In dieser Sache hatten die Symposiumsteilnehmer einschlägige Erfahrungen: seit Mitte der 1950er Jahre experimentierte man in den USA mit der Struktur von Trennböden. Das Buch lieferte die damaligen Zwischenergebnisse, die die Lurgi-Ingenieure in Frankfurt brauchten, um im internationalen Wettbewerb um die besten Stoffaustauschböden mithalten zu können. Darüber hinaus waren die Berichte über die Automatisierung (Instrumentation) von Anlagen in Frankfurt Weckrufe. Das Buch enthielt ein wichtiges Kapitel über die automatische Steuerung von Destillationsprozessen. Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day on which you or a third party designated by you, who is not the carrier, took possession of the goods.

Effects of withdrawal

Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to the following contracts:
•Contracts for the delivery of goods that are not prefabricated and for the manufacture of which an individual selection or determination by the consumer is decisive, or that are clearly tailored to the consumer’s personal needs.
•Contracts for the delivery of goods that are liable to deteriorate rapidly or whose expiration date would be quickly exceeded.
•Contracts for the delivery of sealed goods that are not suitable for return for reasons of health protection or hygiene if their seal has been broken after delivery.
•Contracts for the delivery of goods if, after delivery, they have been inseparably mixed with other goods due to their nature.
•Contracts for the delivery of alcoholic beverages whose price was agreed upon at the time of conclusion of the contract, but which can be delivered no earlier than 30 days after the conclusion of the contract and whose current value depends on market fluctuations over which the business has no influence.
•Contracts for the delivery of audio or video recordings or computer software in a sealed package, if the seal has been broken after delivery.
•Contracts for the delivery of newspapers, periodicals, or magazines, with the exception of subscription contracts.
•Contracts for the delivery of goods whose price depend on fluctuations in the financial market through which the business has no control, and which may occur within the withdrawal period.
