Print on Demand. This book concerns itself with the religious significance of the number 666 as it appears in the Book of Revelation. The author maintains that the number refers, not to a proper name, but instead to some unknown power or authority. To support this claim, the author draws on historical and linguistic evidence, assembling a body of knowledge that includes a thorough examination of the various methods of counting used by the Greeks and Jews in ancient times. This exegetical work forms the basis for the author's thought-provoking thesis, which has the potential to reshape present understanding of this mysterious number and enrich our comprehension of ancient religious texts. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

Observations are added upon the twelfth chapter of the Revelation respecting the W'oman and the Dragon with which the con tents of the thirteenth and seventeenth chap ters have a very intimate connection. Fun willing to lose this opportunity of elucidat ing, as far as it is in my power, those pro phecies which 'i believe have been hitherto generally misunderstood, I have entered ih to a minute examination of Daniel's vision of the Ram and He-goat contained in the eighth chapter of his Prophecy. This pori tion of the Sacred Writings I am satisfied has been almost wholly misunderstood, as those verses relating to the little izorn, have been by ancient commentators sup posed to refer to Antiochus Epiphanes; and by moderns either to the Roman empire, or Mokammea'anism.
