***BUSINESS BOOK AWARDS 2022 SHORTLISTED TITLE***
Disruption is everywhere: it presents both great opportunities and significant threats.
Do you know how to shape your strategy to respond?
What if you had a game plan to navigate disruption?
The Disruption Game Plan presents a tried and tested framework to help senior leaders think differently about disruptive trends and emergent risks, and to act differently when making decisions; joining up thinking on innovation, risk, sustainability and strategy.
By revealing how we can more effectively deal with challenging business environments, this book will help any curious and ambitious senior leader to go beyond a short-term, fire-fighting response, and instead set out to 'change the game'.
Addressing disruption is a business imperative, but there is little coherent advice on 'how to'. This book imparts practical advice and links readers to our expertise through engaging with our events, workshops and consulting work.
To support the 'how to' feel, the text is designed to be easy to read and to refer back to. We use a mix of prose, graphics (intended to reflect the 'working-draft' feel of a workshop output), traditional figures, personal and public domain stories, pop-out 'Design Notes' and a visual table of contents for the steps in our process.
The book will be supported by online content including videos, models, tips, blog posts and much more on www.disruptiongameplan.com
Dr Ruth Murray-Webster is recognized as a leader of project-based organizational change and risk management performing roles as a practitioner, advisor, facilitator, researcher and author. For more than 30 years Ruth has practised and advanced change and risk management approaches, developing commercially astute strategy, centred around emerging risks and disruptive trends.
Ruth has experience in delivering change objectives in most sectors.
Prior to returning to her own company, Potentiality UK, in 2018, Ruth held appointments as Director, Change Portfolio and Group Head of Risk for a major port operator and Director, Risk in the Boardroom practice for KPMG LLP. Ruth researched organizational change from the perspective of the recipients of change for an Executive Doctorate at Cranfield School of Management between 2008 and 2012. She is an Associate Fellow at the University of Oxford: Saïd Business School and a Teaching Fellow at Warwick Business School.
Ruth s interest in risk management arose from a passion to help organizations to take educated risks, not avoid them. She has co-authored four books on the human aspects of risk management and is a popular speaker at conferences and in webinars. She has also published papers in the areas of project complexity, organizational ambidexterity through projects and programmes and multi-paradigmatic perspectives on business transformation programmes. Ruth was Editor of the APM Body of Knowledge 7th edition and Lead Editor for the forthcoming (5th edition) of Managing Successful Programmes (MSP).
Ruth was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Association for Project Management in 2013 for her services to risk and change. The synergies between the two disciplines continue to drive Ruth s thinking, writing and practice.
