Print on Demand. This book discusses the concept of the eternal existence of matter, and how this relates to the notion of a supreme being, or God. The author disputes the idea that something can be created from nothing, and argues that matter has always existed, and that the universe is constantly in a state of becoming and change. The author also challenges the notion that God is a static, unchanging being, and argues that God is constantly evolving and interacting with the universe. The book draws on a range of philosophical and scientific ideas to support its arguments, and offers a fresh perspective on the nature of reality and the relationship between God and the universe. Overall, this book offers a thought-provoking and challenging exploration of the nature of existence, and will appeal to readers interested in philosophy, religion, and science. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

- Spiritual
The disquisition begins with a bold aim: to show that some form of existence—mind as well as matter—must endure from eternity. It then surveys the nature of God, creation, and the order of the world, arguing that finite beings participate in a larger plan of conscious existence. The author uses clear, step‑by‑step reasoning to connect physical reality with spiritual life, without assuming any single creed.
Readers are invited to follow the logic about why creation is gradual rather than instantaneous, how mind and body relate, and why happiness for all sentient beings may unfold across possible futures. The discussions extend to foreknowledge, free will, and the compatibility of divine attributes with the observed order of the world.
- An accessible overview of arguments for the eternal existence of matter and mind
- Plain explanations of how design, purpose, and morality relate to the natural world
- A careful look at creation, change, and the possibility of progressive development
- Thoughtful treatment of foreknowledge, happiness, and the destiny of sentient beings
Ideal for readers interested in philosophy, theology, and the natural theology conversation, this edition helps ground big questions in reasoned analysis.
