Item description from seller

Late 50's reissue. Stamp on endpaper, lightly rubbed. 1948 Mass Market Paperback. 178 pp. "Ambushed! At first, Alamo Sage thought it was the crew returning. But then there was another sound behind him. The short hair at the base of his scalp prickled in the old warning of danger. Alamo's hand went to his holstered gun as he spun about. "Drop your gun quick--or die," the leader of the gunmen warned as they closed in. Driving a herd of beef from Texas to Missouri was inviting disaster. No one could outwit the gang that lay in wait, just beyond the border. But Alamo Sage had fallen for the appeal of beautiful Cherry Vegas to move her cattle. And now he was trapped.
