It is a ritual practiced once every 930 years by oracles that experience the lifetime of Aatami (Adam). A more spiritual Mark endures a new stage of development from larvae to pupae -- Thus, the Chrysalis. Meanwhile, Willie-John brings terror everywhere he travels. In fact, Ahriman sends Willie-John on a mission of terror in Argentina. There, Willie-John's own hand and wits grant him a promotion. Mark emerges hardened and determined. He then embarks on the task of writing the new edition of the Book of Captured souls using the wisdom of the oracle, Ruth. IN THE FIRST BOOK -- Direct Descendants-The Oracle is the first volume in this epic fantasy series. It is classic because it is a war between good and evil. It is different because much of it is plausible as it contemplates certain current social-political events. Mark Gooden, a computer technician, discovers his ascendancy. At the same time, he meets a sword wielding, booted, gloved, and caped crusader who assists him in his mission to protect the Oracle and The Book of Captured Souls. An angel, Alderbaran, a Gregori from the 5th level of heaven, is Mark's guide in this paranormal world. His rival is an ambitious man, Willie-John Latimer, who seeks world domination. They are both vying for the affections of Xpelia Ruth Laire, a beautiful vixen. She and Willie-John work for Ahriman Harvey, a Nephilim who fashions himself as the "vicar of Satan." Using enchantments that give him global powers, he runs a crime syndicate. Mark and Willie-John learn their respective roles in preparation for the new 930-year age of enlightenment. Fallen angels, Ahriman, Lenka Marasamus, and Hoffstein Vedibi extend their lives using their rings of diablerie, invade dreams with their bracelets of dreams, and unleash one's selfishness with pheromones from their henna of sienna. They also play a cruel parlor game of cards using the "Devil's Bible" that may release the Frag, billions of disembodied spirits of fallen angels, that may bring Armageddon. In the interim, Joanne Clark tries to resolve romantic issues with Mark. He is trying to make some sense of the sudden changes in his life, and Ahriman is trying to evaluate his newest, most dangerous foe as their destinies collide. This novel has some controversial aspects. Among them, certain actors claim they are direct descendants of Jesus Christ. Regardless this matter is treated and resolved, R.E. Doc Harris maintains that Direct Descendants is a work of fiction and that he does not have to defend this further. This item is printed on demand.
