Item description from seller
The Silver Jubilee session 1986 of the Institutes Annual Conference which synchronised with the 39 the Anniversary of Indias Independence chose National Integration the experience and lessons of history as the principal theme of discussion. This was both a response to a historical demand and a painful surprise at that. The element of surprise derives from the Tacit admission that National Integration the sense quanon of India's history through the ages should appear in the present context as an ideal phenomenon which requires to be re examined and re emphasised in practice. Unity and integration have persistently held together the fabric of the sub continent known as Bharat Varsha since ages past. Politically as we know India remained divided even in the days when the Britishers ruled inspite of their claim to have effected for first time the political unification of this vast country. To concede such a claim is to negate the historical phenomenon of a princely India co existing with a British India. (jacket) 456 pp.…
