Sir Mortimer Wheeler, Readers Union. Condition remarks:Book: Good Jacket: Wear and tearPages: Yellowed Markings: No markingsThis reflective antiquarian memoir presents a lively blend of archaeology, travel writing and personal anecdote, as Wheeler recounts digs, discoveries and the characters who shaped his career. He assembles sharp observations and instructs readers in the craft, discipline and occasional chaos of fieldwork, arguing for archaeology as both a rigorous science and an adventure of the mind.
