- Minutes and Reports
From the Diocesan record to the present, this volume compiles the proceedings, debates, and decisions of Virginia’s Episcopal Conventions and Councils. It offers a clear window into church governance, education, and mission work in the 19th century.
Readers will encounter concrete summaries of quarterly and annual gatherings, along with the reports from diocesan bodies such as the Missionary Society and the Seminary. The book covers topics from education and parochial reports to discipline, ritual, and the church’s response to social events of the era. It preserves the plain, procedural record that reveals how decisions were made, who participated, and what issues shaped parish life.
- Overview of conventions, officers, and canonical matters that guided parish life.
- Accounts of missionary activity, religious education, and church property concerns.
- Notes on reports from the Seminary, High School, and theological education.
- Indexes and references that help trace the diocese’s evolving structure and priorities.
Ideal for readers of religious history, diocesan archives, and 19th‑century American church life who seek a grounded, documentary portrait rather than narrative style.
