Paperback. Life at the start of the twentieth century in a north east coal mining village was practically set in stone; leave school at fourteen, work in a coal mine and live a life of hardship. For two brothers, life did not follow the expected route. Exceptional sportsmen, they left their mark on their communities. As they grow from boys to men, the brothers encounter love, despair, prejudice, and conflict. Following their hearts, their lives followed very different directions and took them on different paths.
