Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating history and language of the Picts, a people who once occupied a significant portion of Scotland. Challenging the widely held belief that the Picts were simply a branch of the Welsh, the author presents a compelling case for their Gothic origins. Drawing on historical accounts from Bede and Nennius, as well as insights from Roman writers, the book meticulously examines evidence for the Pictish people's migration from Scythia and their unique language. The author further refutes the claim that the language spoken in the Lowlands of Scotland was a mere corruption of English, arguing instead that it shares roots with the ancient Gothic language, thereby highlighting a distinct cultural heritage for Scotland. The book's detailed analysis of linguistic origins and historical accounts provides a rich and insightful exploration of the Pictish people and their place in the larger tapestry of European history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Those Englishmen, who have taken but a superficial View of the Scottish language, will learn from this work, that it is neither a collection of barbarous sounds nor a' corruption of their own tongue; but that, on the contrary, it has a common origin with the English; and that, while Englishmen have changed the sound, altered the spelling, and dropped many of the words of their forefathers, Scotchmen have preserved to a great extent the primitive language of their Teutonic ancestors, in its native integrity, copiousness and force.
