Original Boards. Condition: Near Fine. Two Frontispieces, Foldout, Facsimile Letter (illustrator). First Edition. First Edition. Original plain paper-covered boards with printed labels on cover and spine, offsetting to endpapers from a once dust cover (no longer present), some foxing to gutters. Two color frontispiece, one fold-out color image of Sutter's Mill, facsimile letter from Sutter. Overall very nice near fine copy. Seller Inventory # 010100

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Light green paper over boards with paper labels on the front and the spine with gilt lettering on both. Slight discoloration on the lower part of the boards. The DJ is plain brown paper with slight wear at the corners and tips of the spine. Lower edge of the front board has very small slit and very slight wear at the top corners. Discoloration where the DJ flaps meet the inside boards and endpapers. The inside pages are nice and look unmarked. Nice foldout color painting picture of Sutter's Fort at page 56 is intact and looks nice. Newspaper article on Gold Discovery Days laid in between a few blank pages at the back of the book. Browing on those pages where the article has laid. Kurtz 610. Howes S-1154. Brown paper DJ present and in good condition, excepting some wear on covers and one larger tear on lower right edge of front cover. 56 pages. Copyright page dated 1932. Listed on a separate publications page tucked under front cover as one of an edition of only 500 copies. Contains several color reproductions of paintings relating to Johann August Sutter, including a large fold-out color reproduction.
