268 Pages Indexed. This a 1990 Second printing of the 1983 copyright. A modern horror story told in graphic detail. Morris's meticulous documentation traces prison corruption and proving the tragedy could have been avoided. It is inevitable that this or any other account of what took place behind those walls would be sensationalistic but Morris goes beyond that to expose the corruption, the cronyism, the wholesale negligence and the stupidity that keyed the riot and continue to infect the entire New Mexico penal system. A profoundly disturbing book. Contents in Seven Chapters: Foreshadow, Take over, Carnage, Siege, Surrender, Aftermath, and Foreshadow. Plus Epilogue and Notes.
