The Society for the Study of Traditional Culture, 1978. First Thus. Hard Cover. No dust jacket. Cover has negligibleshelfwear. Pages are clean, bright and unmarked. Binding is tight. Hinges are perfect. Beautiful condition. This book critiques the shift in Western political thought from classical, religiously grounded theories to modern, secular ones. Bishirjian argues that this transition, marked by thinkers like Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau, represented a qualitative decline in political theory by substituting a desacralized view of political order for the ontological foundation of classical thinkers. It aims to provide students with an understanding of the essential background of contemporary political thought by contrasting it with the tradition it rejected.

Store description
Thank you for shopping with PJK Books and Such. Our collection mainly consists of books from the John Steele Bookshop on the Litchfield Green, in Litchfield, Connecticut. We bought their inventory over 15 years ago, and we still have 11 tons to catalog. Please check back with us often as we continue to open new (to us) inventory daily. Also, feel free to let us know if there is anything you are looking for - we won't contact you unless we find it. Our collection consists of "a little bit of everything", fiction, poetry, art - and (obviously) many books about New England. We have signed, first edition books, and many books that have seen better days, but we love them and they are scarce. Additional information and pictures are happily provided upon request.…
