From Determinant to Tensor. This item is unavailable. From Determinant to Tensor

"From Determinant to Tensor" provides a systematic and accessible introduction to the fundamental relationship between determinants and the advanced framework of tensor calculus. Written by William Fleetwood Sheppard, the work is designed to guide the reader through the logical progression of mathematical concepts, moving from established algebraic principles to the more complex structures required for modern physics. The text focuses on clarity of notation and the structural evolution of mathematical systems, making it an ideal resource for those seeking to bridge the gap between elementary algebra and the sophisticated tools used in theoretical research.

As a significant contribution to the pedagogical literature of its time, "From Determinant to Tensor" remains a valuable reference for students and historians of mathematics. It demystifies the transition to tensor analysis, providing the necessary foundations for understanding the mathematical language that supports General Relativity and other high-level physical theories. Sheppard's clear explanations and methodical approach emphasize the practical utility of these mathematical objects, ensuring that the reader gains a deep conceptual understanding of how determinants evolve into tensors.
